Octaves
Definition - a series of eight notes occupying the interval between (and including) two notes, one having twice or half the frequency of vibration of the other. This basically means; eight notes in between (and including) a note and the same letter note, but an octave higher.
Scales
Scale - An arrangement of the notes in any system of music in ascending or descending order of pitch.
Chromatic Scale - A musical scale with 12 pitches, each note is a half step, or semitone, above or below the other.

On trumpet, the are many different major scales, for example: B flat major flats E and B for trumpet, While C major is C to C with all natural notes. There all a lot of scales for trumpet, and I will most likely never know them all.
